Physical attack on Gyanendra Shahi – Gyanendra Shahi News – Nepali News

The physical attack on self-proclaimed anti-corruption activist Gyanendra Shahi by the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Saturday in Chitwan is an attack on freedom of speech and expression and warrants the strongest condemnation. Gyanendra Shahi had to go from Chitwan towards the capital after being cut on his toe, head, chest, and back.

Gyanendra Shahi was attacked by a group of youths with stones, rods, and sticks while boarding the vehicle after leaving the hotel where he had been staying. Earlier, NCP cadres disrupted the program at Chaubiskothi, which was to be addressed to Shahi. In view of the situation, the police stopped Shahi and his group from Nepalese for Nepal ‘from organizing the event to prevent any untoward incident.

Saturday’s attack took place in Bharatpur in Chitwan, whose mayor is Renu Dahal, daughter of NCP president Pushpa Kamal Dahal. This is not the first time Shahi has been attacked by cadres close to the NCP, apparently for his tirade of abuse against Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai.

It all started with the minister delaying the flight of Buddha Air from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu in mid-September in Nepal until late in the evening when he faced verbal abuse from irritable passengers, especially Shahi. Gyanendra Shahi tried to hold a press conference in Kathmandu the next day to inform the media about the flight delay, but it was interrupted and Shahi was taken into police custody on orders of the minister.

Worse, the Kaski chapter of the youth wing of the ruling NCP, through a statement, banned Gyanendra Shahi from entering Pokhara for minister Bhattarai. The ban on Gyanendra Shahi came in the wake of Pushpa Kamal directing students and youth to “retaliate against the anarchic and reactionary tendencies directed against the democratic republic”, NCP cadres continue to accuse Shahi of being a Royalist. The travel ban is a violation of the fundamental right set out in the constitution, which allows Nepalis to travel freely within the country.

Based on the activities of the NCP cadres, Gyanendra Shahi is a marked man, and being indifferent to the constant attacks on him, only to prevent the party’s youth from enmity with anyone to prevent him from making public his views on various forums. Will provoke If this kind of activity is not yet planted in the bud, it may invite conflict between cadres of different parties in the future, and it may pounce on the youth of NCP itself.

No one has the right to silence others or tell them what they can and cannot say. Anything said in public should be insulting to anyone, let the land judge’s law be made and act accordingly. People look too young leaders and their young followers to get this country out of the morality that has fallen into it. They should lead by example, not engage in hooliganism, even if their senior leaders instruct them. General people are a frustrated person, who does not see anything good happening on any front. The ruling party cannot use its cadres to intimidate those who criticize the government for its failure to deliver goods and services.
